The main orchestral members of the woodwind family.
What produces sound on the instruments and how. The parts of the clarinet. The history/evolution of the woodwind family instruments. Activities to try:
*Experiment with blowing air over a water or soda bottle. Does anything change if there is liquid inside. See what happens with more or less liquid.
*Make a straw oboe: using a larger straw (like you would get from McDonalds), press one end closed to flatten it out. Cut both corners to create a "double reed" and try to blow through. How to make a straw oboe |
